Infinity (1986-88)

‘It is not an illustration of other people’s emotions, these are my emotions, born out of the reading of Leopardi, becoming mine with the knowledge. In the beginning I was thinking of a sequence of distinct and definite landscapes. But I was not satisfied. I moved inside it, without knowing where to go, where to fall, where to stop. Then I put all the pictures on the floor, I looked around, I became myself again and I saw a new light. Infinity is intended as something that in its ending creates the premises for a new beginning’. (Mario Giacomelli, in Mario Giacomelli by Germano Celant, Ed. Photology-Logos, 2001)
