Franco’s aunt (Hospice, 1981-83)

Giacomelli goes back several times to take pictures in the Hospice (in Senigallia and in Urbino). The hospice… the place where his mother worked as laundress when too early she became a widow with three children to be fed, and where since 1934 very often Mario would eat a plate of soup when accompanying the mother. Going back to the hospice he creates different series of photographs of the same place: Hospice (1955), Life in the hospice (1956-57), Why (1959), Death Will Come and Will Have Your Eyes (1955-68), Don’t ask me questions (1981-83), Waiting room (1981-83), And I saw you girl (1981-83), Franco’s aunt (1981-83).
