These photographs were taken in 1975 during a flight to Bilbao, where Giacomelli had been asked to sit on the jury for a photography prize. To distract himself from his fear of flying, he began photographing what he saw from the cabin window. This sparked his idea for a new, elevated perspective on the landscape, which offered an abstracted vision. Presa di coscienza sulla natura (An epiphany about nature) (1976/90s) grew from this.
